Latest news... my work can still be seen at The Gallery on the Square, Poundbury
Hello and welcome to my portfolio.
I am an artist and writer whose prints and paintings have been widely sold throughout the South West and in London. Visual art commissions include: greetings cards; illustrations for three books - also providing site-specific riverscape art for Wetherspoons. I have worked in a variety of paint media and am currently working on a series of sea and cliff-scapes around Portland Harbour and the Jurassic coast.
In addition to initiating, organising and curating the Art Exhibition for the Larkhall Arts Festival 2009 and 2010, I also established and coordinated a new Open Studios Art Trail larkhallopenstudios.weebly.com
I find it difficult to make an 'artist's statement' justifying what I do, because I feel visual art is its own language and should speak for itself.
Each piece of work goes the way it goes because that seems at the time to be the best way of working it.
If I absolutely must give a reason for making art, then it is this:
Since the age of three (and possibly earlier) I have drawn and painted, made stories, created things out of fabric, card, paper, paint, junk, glue and even window putty. I make art because I am driven to make it.
I am mostly self taught. I don't have a qualification permitting me to paint; however I have studied - intermittently - when life has allowed.
Thankyou for reading this.
